 In the realm of activism bold, A comrade's story must be told. Lucy Ciru, a name so true, With fire in her heart, she wore her hue. A Social Justice Activist she stood, Fighting for what she knew was good. In Kiamaiko, her battle roared, Through the center, justice soared. Her sickness couldn't make her abstain. Against high costs of living, she'd protest, And extrajudicial killings detest. On the frontline, she would stand, A beacon of hope, a spirit so free. In the pursuit of human dignity's reign, She motivated us not to wane. Comrade Ciru, a warrior, true, In our memories, we'll always hold you. Your passion and courage, an eternal flame, In the fight for Social Justice, we'll carry your name.

On Thursday, Kenya lost a remarkable compatriot, Comrade Lucy Ciru. With a heavy heart, I pen this tribute to honor her memory and celebrate her tireless efforts as a social justice activist. She was a revolutionary socialist who dedicated her life to fighting for the rights of the marginalized. Despite her own struggles, she never hesitated to join study cells, protests, and campaigns to create a better society. She stood up against the high cost of living, extrajudicial killings, and oppressive taxation laws imposed by the Kenyan government. Her unwavering commitment and selflessness inspired not only me but also countless others in our pursuit of human dignity. Comrade Lucy Ciru was an illustrious member of the Kiamaiko Community Social Justice Center, where she tirelessly volunteered to address social inequality and champion the cause of the marginalized.
